Nutritional and medicinal value of strawberry fruits

Everyone knows strawberry as a delicious fruit. Botanically categorized under the family of Rosaceae and the genus of Fragaria. Strawberry is famous worldwide and cultivate in many lands. This is an aggregated accessory fruit. First strawberry garden was in France. It is in 1750. In the very first days it had described as a jungle fruit. But ancient Rome literature proves that it cared as a medicine.

France is the first country which grow strawberry as a fruit. After that Italy, Germany also start cultivation. Fragaria moschata, Fragaria sylvestris, F. semperforence and F. verginia are the  species grow in those days. The species which presently cultivate is found in 1712 in France. Presently it categorized in shape, color and flavor. 

Strawberry plant is propagated by runners. Crop can be collected within 3 months. Plant gives its' crop for about 8 months. Temperate climate is best suit for best cultivation. Time to pluck the crop is decided with the smell and size of the fruit. Normally the fruit becomes bright red in color in the suitable time to pluck.

After collecting the crop it is categorized into large, medium and small according to the size of the fruit.

Strawberry has good medicinal qualities according to the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory contents. It helps to protect from heart diseases, controls blood glucose, helps to quit from throat, anal, cervical and breast cancers. It also helps to decrease the blood cholesterol density. Nitrate in strawberry helps to increase the blood circulation and increase the Oxygen supply to the muscles by 7%. 20% of Folic acid needed for a pregnant woman, can get from 8 strawberry fruits. Mixing strawberry with honey makes good sunscreen for the skin. Acidity compounds in strawberries helps to remove teeth gum.
