Verbena Cultivation

Verbena is a very little flower with aggregate bunch. These species have a large variety with colors. Flowers and leaves are very small. Some species have a little variety with their leaves. Some are little bit of rough.

These plants are growing near the floor and grow like a creeper. Therefore most suitable for use as a hanging plant.

Verbena is very easy to plant and propagate. Little pieces of stems can be used to make new plants. Fast growing. Soil media with more sand will let the plant grow easy and fast. To grow the plant well and fast, use high nitrogen fertilizers. High potassium fertilizer will help to blooming. Verbena loves to grow under the sunlight.

Therefore we have to set the environment with more sunlight long time per day. This plant can grow on any type of environmental condition. Fast and large blooming will occur with perfect fertilizing. Using a liquid fertilizer once a week is enough. Normally the plant is naturally protected from diseases.

But mealy bugs, fungi can affect. If it is, use an insecticide or fungicide or remove affected twigs. Removing twigs must be done before the disease grows. Destroy the removed twigs (burn or underground) to avoid spreading.
