Standard Rules for creating standard bonsai tree

There are some common rules imitate by bonsai lovers. But it is not compulsory. Following these rules can make a good beautiful bonsai tree. But the best bonsai arts named in the world are not followed these rules.


Standard Bonsai Rules
Entire shape of the bonsai tree should be unequal trigonal.
Branches should begin beyond 1/3 of the entire height of tree.
If the first branch goes to right, second must be to left, third must be to right and keep this pattern to the top.


No two branches derive from one location.
If there is any bends on stem, branches must be derive from convex side of these bends.
Diameter of branches must be reduce regularly from bottom to top.
Those main branches with their sub branches must be trigonal in shape.
Sub branches must be spread horizontally to both sides only. Those must not spread to up or down. Then you are able to create a beautiful foliage pad.
Lower branches must be slightly bended lower sides comparing with upper ones.
Stem must be thinning bottom to up.
Entire view of the tree should be balanced.
Only one terminal for the entire tree.
Terminal should be bended slightly to the front.
Most suitable pot should be used. For those pots we have to use cement, porcelain or clay shallow one.

Plants suit for bonsai
It is good to choose perennial plants with small leaves. You can supply plants by using seeds, air layering, propagate by branches. Experimentally proved that every tree can be developed as bonsai. Even monocotyledonous trees such as coconut, areca also can convert as bonsai but that is a very big deal and lots of experience have to use. But dicotyledonous species can easily be convert to bonsai.
