Importance of the human skin
It act as a cover for internal organs. It is a protection for internal organs. Skin helps us to protect from external entries such as germs, virus and also from the sunlight and weather conditions. Skin is the largest metabolic organ. Skin protect the body from external pressures. It generates Vitamin D when the sunlight presents. Skin is the main part of the body which express the personality and clean.
Epithelium is the outermost layer of human skin. This epithelium continuously peeling off from the skin. Cells are growing in the lower layer of epithelium and therefore the top layer remove it's cells. There is an oil layer with this epithelium and this is very important. When someone growing old this oil layer is regularly removing from the skin. And genetic matters also cause for this. However it is very important of protecting this oil layer to keep the skin healthiness. Skin moisture is depend on the amount of this oil layer. This is responsible for the dryness of the skin.
Is there any definite PH value of the skin?
Yes, skin has its definite PH value. It is nearly 5.5. This depends on the activity of sweat glands and lubrication glands.
Why our skin is drying with the ageing?
When we are getting old, oil layer of the skin is regularly removing. And also increase the amount of peeling off cells. Activity of the glands in skin are also reducing. Therefore our skin goes to dry when we are going to old.
Reasons for drying the skin
There are several reasons which cause to dry our skin. One of those is ageing. The others are shampoo and detergents, using very warm water to wash, some kind of alcoholic perfumes and applications, some medicine which use to reduce fat, genetic reasons and the humidity of the environment.
How to protect skin?
Every one has to drink 3-4 liters of water except other drinks. Specially the people who living in air conditioned environment for considerable time of the day, have to drink more water. You have to consume foods with rich of Vitamin A,D and C which help for healthy skin. Stop scrubbing the skin hardly. Keep in mind to choose a shampoo with a related PH value to the skin PH. And it is good to try soap free washing compounds. Do not apply perfumes directly to the skin. Use a moisturizer cream when you are in a dry environment. Use sunscreen when you are exposed to more sunlight.
